Is it expensive to get into the Film & TV business?
No, there is not a lot of upfront money that is needed to get started. You will
need some sort of headshot and possibly some acting classes, although not mandatory
to get started.
Is it difficult for children to get into the Film & TV business?
Yes – it can be. The level of difficulty depends on what area of the business they are trying to get in to. Not everyone is cut out for the business and there is a lot of competition. However, you can increase their odds by getting solid information on how to get started.
Does my child need an Agent?
Yes – that is how most professional jobs are booked. While you could find work on your own, through ad searches, you have no way of knowing who you are dealing with. An agent is there to protect you. In addition, the higher end work is always booked through a talent agency.
Will my child need professional photos?
They will need some sort of photos to be submitted for work. Professional photos are always a plus, although you do not need to spend a fortune on them.
Does my child need any prior acting or modeling experience?
No – it is not a requirement to have prior acting experience, although any experience or training will give them an advantage.
How long will my child’s audition be?
Due to the amount of children to be seen, each audition will be approximately 3-5 minutes, which is the same amount of time as an actual audition. During this time your child will have the opportunity to perform a commercial audition. Your child will receive feedback from the casting agent and then have an opportunity to perform a few more times with further direction.
Do I need to have my child prepare anything to read for the audition?
No, a commercial script will be provided for them on prior to the workshop.
